The Bahamas, comprised of over 3,000 islands and cays, has an established reputation of being the ideal tropical getaway. Gated resort communities, high-end casinos, world-class golf courses and yacht clubs are just a few of the draws of this archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. Each Bahamian island is different, making the country appealing to home buyers and UHNW individuals from all over the world.
“The Bahamas are located only 60 miles off the coast of Florida. There is no inheritance tax, capital gains tax, corporate tax or income tax in Bahamas,” said George Damianos, president of Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty. “Non- Bahamian investors who purchase residences valued in excess of $500,000 (USD) may apply for a permanent residency certificate in The Bahamas, making investing in Bahamas real estate relatively easy for those looking to purchase primarily as an investment for a permanent residency with tax advantages.” Homes in The Bahamas range from resort-style condominiums to sprawling beachfront estates.

Lyford Cay Sotheby’s International Realty in Lyford Cay, Bahamas recently completed the sale of a 9,050-square-foot beachfront home for $9.5 million (USD). The property included a four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom main house, detached guest house, two-car garage, oceanfront pool and putting green.
