There is excellent deep sea or sport fishing a few miles offshore where experienced fishers can snag tuna, marlin or wahoo. Closer to the island are world-class bone fishing grounds.
Spanish Wells is connected to Russell Island by a short bridge and together form the Spanish Wells/Russell Island Community. Russell Island is the quieter of the two islands because it is just beginning to be developed.

Bahamas Fast Ferries "BoHengy" provides reliable daily services between Nassau, Spanish Wells and Harbour Island.
