A small island (about half a mile wide by 2 miles long), located off the northern tip of Eleuthera Island, in the Bahamas. Spanish Wells is a quaint community that is unique in many ways. It is the Crawfishing Capital of the Bahamas and the people are very industrious; they move forward with the times and that sense of one big family is always prevalent. Historically, the island was used as a last stop for Spanish ships returning to Europe, where these ships refilled their water supply from wells created for this purpose - thus the English name of the island: Spanish Wells.
