COLLECTIONS Volume 3 2015 Spotlight on Homes as Opportunitiy Gateways features two homes in the Bahamas on pages 4 and 5. The first located in Lyford Cay and the second located in Sandyport.

The Bahamas, comprised of over 3,000 islands and cays, has an established reputation of being the ideal tropical getaway. Gated resort communities, high-end casinos, world-class golf courses and yacht clubs are just a few of the draws of this archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. Each Bahamian island is different, making the country appealing to home buyers and UHNW individuals from all over the world.

“The Bahamas are located only 60 miles off the coast of Florida. There is no inheritance tax, capital gains tax, corporate tax or income tax in Bahamas,” said George Damianos, president of Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty. “Non- Bahamian investors who purchase residences valued in excess of $500,000 (USD) may apply for a permanent residency certificate in The Bahamas, making investing in Bahamas real estate relatively easy for those looking to purchase primarily as an investment for a permanent residency with tax advantages.” Homes in The Bahamas range from resort-style condominiums to sprawling beachfront estates.

Lyford Cay homeTropically landscaped, this Colonial-style home in Lyford Cay is nestled on a private acre of land. Spanning over 9,650 square-feet, the home has direct waterfront access to the canal. Concertina doors throughout the home fold back entirely to reveal views of the outdoors, pool, spa and canal.

Sandyport HomeLocated in the popular western community of Sandyport, Sand Dollar is a turnkey home. With an expansive private outdoor deck overlooking the waterway, the home also features a private boat dock suitable for a 35-foot boat. Outside, the property has been landscaped with native Coco Plum hedges and flourishing avocado, banana, lime, lemon and clementine trees.
